Due the weather We have extended the time for

students to participate! 

Essays must be emailed by Midnight March 14!

The contest is for 8th Grade Students living in Indiana.  Home School students may participate.  We  suggest that all students that attend school (public or private) submit the essay, if possible,  through their school.    Essays are to be submitted electronically as a Microsoft word file or PDF. 



The Fourth Amendment

 “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue , but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”


All essays must be submitted with the following heading

Student Name

School and City (If Home Schooled submit contact email)

Name of social studies teacher (only if submitted through the school)

Date Submitted

Title of essay

 Contest Rules

300-500 words type written essay

Researching currant events, using newspapers, magazines, Television News, Radio, and the Internet.  All references must be included as part of your submission.

Your opinion as to how this Constitutional Amendment applies to our lives today is part of the requirements.


  Each essay will be critiqued on:

¨ Originality

¨ Accuracy of content

¨ Style

¨ Grammatical Structure

¨ Spelling

¨ Essays will be rejected if plagiarism  is detected. 

¨ All reference sources are to be foot noted or listed on the last page of essay

Essay will not be critiqued on political philosophy of the student.


Monetary prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mention.   Plaques, sponsor’s gifts will also be awarded.

Award Program will be announced later  (Prizes will be awarded before the end of the 1st Quarter 2014)
